They claim the product is "more comfortable" but I suspect they have done this to increase frequency of purchase. The packaging was also redesigned and now appears cheaper and of lower quality.
The savings are clearly not being passed on to me, the consumer, as the price of this monthly purchase continues to rise. Instead, it appears that I am being forced to purchase a higher quantity of product, more often, to make up for its ineffectiveness.
I wrote a letter to the company and have received no response. I've switched brands and won't be going back. 35b2309

1. Written by UnhappyLady on December 16, 2011 The super tampon has to be changed as often as if it was a light tampon. Pathetic. Tampax is no longer a brand to trust. I'll stick with the store brand. Way better product and value.
2. Written by Kathy on November 30, 2011 One other thought...I feel sorry for the newly mentruating teenagers who don't realize there is a better product out there and think that tampons are unreliable and that their period is unmanageable. Nothing like taking a tradition and a reliable product and totally messing it up in the name of improvement.
3. Written by Kathy on November 30, 2011 Still terrible, I have used tampax since 1977, never had a problem until the last couple years, thought it was because I was getting older and cycle was changing. Not the problem, tampax is no longer reliable, they leak after about 10 minutes, and get so slimy they slip out. What is the piece that sticks out accomplishing except ruining multiple pairs of underwear and pajamas. In theory sitting a a petrie dish holding liquid they might have seemed like a good idea, in practice terrible. I have switch to the store brands from Walmart and CVS which seem to use the old tampax design. Tampax has lost my business after 35 years. Bye Bye
4. Written by Me on August 28, 2010 I agree about the "leak guard." It has ruined many pairs of underwear because it transfers all moisture out, instead of keeping it in where it belongs. Even before it needs to be changed, I have a mess. Definitely designed by a man.
5. Written by bleed forever with tampax on May 2, 2010 Tampax was the best product for women to use but after they changed it, I have found that I have to change more than ever! At first I thought I was starting to bleed more and that my flow was heavier, but changed to the walmart brand and wa-lah! Everything was normal. If it aint broken, don't fix it is right! They will never get my money nor my daughter's money nor any of my friends money(as I was the one telling everyone to use their product) I have retracted.
6. Written by Dawn on February 23, 2010 I buy the Walmart generic brand. They are really close to the old Tampax. ex - Tampax buyer show them buy generic fixing something that isn't broken is bad business. I think this company needs to change back to their original product. ![]()
7. Written by Lisa T on December 1, 2009 I just have to gripe about the "leak-fricken-guard". Obviously, a man designed these, because they have no clue that the little piece of added material only serves to WICK OUT THE MOISTURE onto your underwear!! Nice, fellas! After I'm finished w/my unfortunate mega-box from Costco, I'm doing a switcheroo! Buh bye Tampax, hello OB!
8. Written by metaldiva on August 31, 2009 I agree with all, but no one mentioned the slimyness! The material is a recycled rayon product, the stuff used for those "add water and grow" kid washcloths. I thought it was just me..so I put on in a glass of water, it spread out and got slimy. The water activated anti-friction powder is infused in them. So they slime up and slip out! Plus they are no longer made in the US. The Walgreens "Perfection" is the closest I can find to the old Tampax and at $2.00 for 18, they are a new standby. Shame on P&G! After 32 years, they lost me! ![]()
9. Written by PalinWorld on October 9, 2008 I too am soooo pissed. What were those people thinking?! The soft, supple design is so uncomfortable in my ***. I have to say those people in research and development are NOT Mavericks.
10. Written by carolyn Vandetti on September 11, 2008 This product is not acceptable. The applicator does not allow the tampon to slide and therefore I have switched to a new brand. I think this company needs to change back to their original product.
